It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.
(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers
Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

lol....I'm a witness and a high school student. Imagine what it's like when I come to the house of one of my peers or go out in service on christmas day. I wish people could be just a little bit more understanding. This is what I belive and no, I'm not brained washed. In fact, I'm the only one in my imediate family who is baptized. People say how witnesses are strange and their kids arn't taken care of but I have to say I'm doing just fine (in fact I was just named a national merit semifinalist). Slamming a door in my face is not going to change my mind or make me stop going out(it's a comand in the bible to spread the good news).

Personally I've nothing against Jehovah's Witnesses I have had many a discussion with them and heard them out. At the end of the day, I do not accept their teachings - that is MY choice just like it is theirs to accept it.
Since I have the ability to think for myself and I find ANYONE who tries to force their beliefs onto me rude and arrogant. If I need any sort of religious guidance I am perfectly capable of going to look for it myself.
Another reason they get such a bad reception is that most people as just plain fed-up with being pestered by both the phone and the door. When you are not at work, you like to feel relaxed and peacful in your own home. After all it is what we all work for each week.

Because they're annoying as hell, knocking on doors and peddling their little pamphlets to people who are SO not interested. They usually knock on my door *once*. When I tell them I'm a witch they bolt like Dracula from garlic.
True story: JW's hate Halloween, of course, like they hate all forms of fun. Some friends of mine were preparing for a Pagan Hallows ritual and then a Halloween party. The JW's were canvassing the neighborhood, trying to save everyone from having fun. This little couple, maybe early 20's, came to the door, which the husband, one of my friends, 6'5" or so and about 240, bald and with a magnificent beard, in full black satin embroidered regalia, answered the door and graciously asked them in. They looked around in horror at the various trappings and decorations. My friend went to the foot of the stairs and called up to his wife, "Oh, Honey? The virgin sacrifices are here!"
BAM! goes the front door. They're last seen *running* down the block to where the mini-van is parked. A famous story in my community. Needless to say, they never knocked on THAT door again.
Heh heh heh.

Because they flog a silly, made up American religion. Because they gleefully say that everyone else in the world is going to be killed, and this is a good thing. Because they say the United Nations is the 'abomination', yet were affiliated to the UN and receiving benefits and funding for years. Because they treat women as chattel. Because they make stupid end of the world predictions then deny it when they do not come true. Because they have let children die. Because they protect paedophiles...
I could go on and on, but I think you get the gist

I think there are a lot of reasons, but usually hatred stems from ingnorance, and I alwasy find no-one really knows what they're talking about when talking about JW's. Also, they are a bit of a minority and easy target. Once someone asked which god they worshipped, and if they believed in Jesus.
Reasons they are usually hated, they knock on your door uninvited, they 'let their kids die' as don't accept blood.
I am not a JW, but members of my family are. I'm not any religion, but wouldn't bad mouth one either.
people should just let everyone get on with it.

They will not take ''NO'' for an answer.
I like what Jay Leno said on his show the other night. He said to get rid of them-permanently-answer the door in the nude and have an ax in your hand. That will work.

If their religion was any good they wouldnt need to come to my house and try and force it down my throat! Also I dont like the way they are prepared to let their children die rather than let them have a blood transfusion, what sort of parent could stand by and watch their child die without lifting a finger! Pure evil!!

I hate them coz they didn't stop my dad from abusing my mom and us, and didn't force my mom to get treatment for some of her problems, even though one was an er doctor who treated me at night time due to what she did. They just stopped having anything to do with us, and then came back around every now and then to see what a dump things were and try to tell us to come back to the Kingdom Hall for more brainwashing.
