I did this too. Unfortunately, this is going to be tough to recover from. Try alternating cold packs with a heating pad. For cold packs, (I know this sounds weird, but) buy a bag of frozen peas. They mold to fit where you hurt and after they thaw you can just refreeze them and use them again. Buy 2 so one will always be frozen and ready to use. I took benedryl to make me sleepy so I could just sleep through the pain. Also, a glass of wine can take the edge off, though I wouldn't encourage you to get drunk with pain pills. I feel so bad for you! I know it sucks. Hope you feel better soon. Good luck!

There really isn't much they can do for broken ribs, I'm afraid. When I broke mine, they gave me this wide elastic thing that closed with velcro to give my ribs support, but it hurt like crazy to use it for the first couple of days. Honestly, not moving for about 3-4 days is what worked for me, I just stayed in bed and used my pain medication. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Basically you need to be x-rayed to make sure the broken rib does not rupture your lung. Once discovered you are ok, the rib will heal on its on. To help with the pain, of course pain killers but you need to wrap your chest with either an ACE bandage or a tummy tucker type wrap. You should get it as tight as you can stand it and eventually the rib will heal itself.

Your best bet for pain is ICE for 20 minutes.
Fill an empty drink bottle , put in freezer , put on pain,
After ICE, try heat, fill an empty drink bottle with hot water, put on pain.
After all this , try magnets off the fridge for pain,
Rub olive oil on the pain.
Try to sleep in a sleeping bag at night, instant pain relief.

Use marijuana. It's natures painkiller. You don't have to smoke it, eating will do just fine too.

See a doc about it. They can wrap it so it doesn't puncture a lung and so it will heal faster.
