I believe in a higher power, but I'm not a member of any religion. Is this Agnostic?

An agnostic is one who does not believe in a higher power, but who, unlike the an athiest, does not catagorically rule out the possibility of God's existence. The agnostic says, I don't believe in the existence of God, but I also recognize that the question isn't provable one way or the other.

No, from your description, you're not an agnostic, you're what might be termed a "non-denominational believer."

That could be Agnostic thinking, in a way. Agnostics admit that their human minds are not capbable of wrapping around the concept of God. They seem comfortable enough to admit that they don't know how it all started or how it is all going to end. If you don't believe that you are capable of knowing what that "higher power" is, then that sounds like an Agnostic belief...but once you define that "higher power", then you are talking like a deist.

You would not be considered agnostic. An agnostic is one who is unsure about the existence of a higher power. One who doesn't accept, nor deny it. If you believe in a higher power, you are not agnostic.

agnostic means that someone doesn't know for sure if there is a god or not. they say that there may or may not be a god.

deism says that there is a higher power but that he hasn't been involved with creation since he created the universe.

spiritual but not religious is another possibility.

universalist, unitarian, and pluralists say that there is a higher power and that all religions are equally viable.

Not necessarily; an agnostics believes we cannot know whether God does or does not exist.

It depends upon what you mean by "higher power." If you believe that is an intelligent spirit being, you are not agnostic.

Agnostic is when you don't believe in God as such but there's something else out there. Athiest is when you don't believe in anything at all.

Or it could be the other way around, I am drunk

i am agnostic.
what i have learned is that agnostic means if you had proof in another being, you would believe in it...in other words. you dont believe in anything
and then athiest is even with proof you dont believe in another being.

hope that helps

Sound more like an unaffiliated diest.
Agnostics know that they do not know the unknowable.
Does not necessarily exclude openmindedness.
