"Israel" was the northern part of the land -- "Judea" was the southern part, including Jerusalem. When the Assyrians conquered "Israel" the ten tribes were dispersed (lost?) to Judea and to neighboring countries, Judea was all that was left, comprising the tribes of Judah and Levi.

it is in the south part of israel. there was the land of the ancient jewish tribe "judea".as the other tribes went on exile and vanished - the jews are called after this tribe.
according your name - al-qudes - i understand you are arabic. and jerusalem, which was in judea - was conguerd by the roman - not by the arabs. after that - you conquerd it, because we were won by the roman! and build your building upon our temple. you called our jerusalem - al-qudes. but jerusalem - its true name - was not mention in your quran even one time!!!
just imagine that the arabs will conquer the u.s.a. and will build a mosqe on the white house (i know it is not a religious place...). will you say that as a result that the arabs conquere the u.s.a. (because she was won by another nation...) it is their homeland???!!!
that's hide behined your "innocent question"...
