Can you base this with facts? Do you have a website that reports this? What did she say? Why would you want to criticise any religion....God sent a message to his people and he expects them to follow that message. It applies to all Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc..they are all following what they think is God's message..who are we to criticise GOD!!!!

Rammohan, All terrorists are Muslims? Hm, strange, I always thought Hitler was a Christian. I think people should stop relating terrorism to religion, not just Islam but any religion at all.

Firstly.. Is this piece of news trustworthy? Secondly, Islam does allow discussion & criticism as it is a good way to learn and create awareness.

*edit*
I checked out the links. She wasn't tortured because she spoke out against Islam! She had a crazy, abusive husband, that's what this whole news article was about. Please take the time to READ THE WHOLE THING, not just look at the title and pictures.

Islam is a relatively new religion, or at least less old than the other ones so it's still in it's rebellious development stages. Doing the same thing with Christianity 1000 years ago would have ended up in the same result and forget about women even having a chance to do anything they wanted. Remember the witch hunts? Although Christianity is a step or two ahead of Islam in the equality department, there are no female priests yet, and very few women ministers of other faiths.

Even if this happened, they were going AGAINST Islam. She had every right to speak out. Unfortunately, the "men" over there of today are completely the opposite of the real men back then. Back then, the men cooked and helped with the housework. They did not think they were there to give orders left and right while their wives suffered. Women even argued with the Prophet (PBUH) himself and if they were right (most of the time they were, he was sympathetic towards women and stood up for them all of the time), he would say so. If they were wrong, he would gently say it and also give comfort. He would be rolling in his grave at what the idiots of today are doing. They have forgotten the true teachings and are like animals over there.

according to Koran, any body wage war against Muhammad(PBUH) and Allah should be tortured first and then killed, and by the measures of some Islamic nations only speaking critically of Muhammad(Pbuh) is equal to waging war against him and against Allah and it is enough to issue capital punishment.Of course this is happen many times in Saudi and really don't know if this measure still exist, but I think human rights committee would be involve to reduce the harshness of the sentence.

It's normal for such things to happen in an autocratic country. You cant blame Islam for that.

you mean Rania Al-Baz or the most recent ones?

JEDDAH — On Sunday, by court order, Rania Al-Baz was finally divorced from her abusive husband, Mohammed Al-Fallatah. After failing three times to appear in court, Al-Fallatah was brought in by an official of the area where he lives.

“I’m glad it only took four sessions for him to divorce me; I know of other women who can’t get divorced for years because their husbands fail to show up in court,” Rania said. She was pleased with the ruling even though she had to forfeit SR35,000. She explained, “The judge ordered him to divorce me. He then asked for me to forfeit the SR35,000 which was part of our prenuptial agreement if I asked for a divorce. I agreed to do so and then he had the audacity to ask for custody of our children, claiming that I was an unfit mother. The judge refused to listen to him.”

Rania Al-Baz, a Saudi TV presenter, became the face of battered women in Saudi Arabia after her husband beat her almost to death in April. He pinned her to the floor and repeatedly smashed her face into marble tiles and walls while choking her and then dumped her unconscious at a local hospital. She suffered 13 facial fractures and continues to undergo reconstructive surgery. Al-Fallatah surrendered to police on April 19, supposedly to face a charge of attempted murder.

You have already received questions asking about your source.
I would suggest that anyone who doubts your facts should travel first hand to Saudi Arabia and experiment with their "freedom of speech" over there. They won't be back on "Yahoo Answer" anytime soon!!:)
