It appears that, at this time, South Korean Ban Ki-moon is in the lead for the UN Secretary General position, but Shashi Tharoor holds a close second and could potentially take the slot if a decisive "no" vote is made for Ban by one of the five veto-bearing members. At this time, however, it looks likely that Ban will win the position.
