This might be an easy one for someone out there. I know it says long and loud not to worship other gods. But is there a verse stating explicitly that no other god exists?

Isaiah 43:10 "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. 7 Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen. 8 Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any."

9 All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. 10 Who fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing? 11 Behold, all his companions shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are only human. Let them all assemble, let them stand forth. They shall be terrified; they shall be put to shame together. 12 The ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint. 13 The carpenter stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes and marks it with a compass. He shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. 14 He cuts down cedars, or he chooses a cypress tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it. 15 Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it. 16 Half of it he burns in the fire. Over the half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. Also he warms himself and says, "Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!" 17 And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. He prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for you are my god!" 18 They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19 No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, "Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?" 20 He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?"

The following are some Biblical verses that claim that there are gods beside God:
"You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you."
(Deuteronomy 6:14)
"And the temple which I build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods."
(2 Chronicles 2:5)
"For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods."
(Chronicles 16:25)
"God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods."
(Psalm 82:1)

"And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands." - Jeremiah 1:16.

"Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit." - Jeremiah 2:12

"But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah." - Jeremiah 2:28

"Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;" - Jeremiah 7:9

"Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens." - Jeremiah 10:11

Every one of them is a direct quote from God, either spoken to Israel en-masse, or as intended to be spoken from a prophet (in these particular instances, Jeremiah), denying the actual existance of other gods. There are a great many others, some being as revelations, some as direct quotes as these, others are the words of prophets, while still others are commentaries. Most are from prophets, leaders, and Apostles, while a few (these being the most notable) are directly from God.

Jesus does not touch on the issue other than in retribution to an insult from the Pharisees (considering that Jesus spent his life in the Israel area, it's not surprising that He didn't come across much literal idolatry).

EDIT : And a hearty applause to Martin S, who hit the nail exactly on the head with his verses. ^_^ I completely forgot about Isaiah 43 and 44. ^_^ .Voo

No. It just states not to have any other gods. And it says all other gods are false. So I can safely assume that God meant all other gods do not really exist since they are false. Which would mean they are of man. Kind of like they tooth fairy and Santa Claus.

No...

In fact, the text of the bible almost certainly supports that there ARE other gods.

Funny how the evolution of religion makes these kinds of changes.

2 Cor 4:4
Talking about Satan being god, so----other gods exist according to the Bible.

2Co 4:4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the radiancy of the glad tidings of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine forth for them .
