No automobile (other that possibly a rare, classic car) can be considered a good investment. All cars lose value (depreciate) with age and mileage.

If you are asking if a Mazda is a good vehicle, that is a different question. While the Mazda is not as popular as a Honda or Toyota, depending on the specific Mazda you choose, they do hold their value fairly well. Some do better than others. If you are looking at a truck or SUV, remember that the Mazda trucks are actually made by Ford!

A car usually is not an investment. Normally, it is a sunk cost because it depreciates instead of appreciates. There was a time in the 80s that a BMW was the best investment option for anyone. They actually increased in value. Now, this is not true. Mazda makes great cars; I've owned a few. But, it isn't an investment. Now that Ford owns most of Mazda, I think their cars are over priced. I'd look at Honda or KIA. While I was in Guatemala, I saw KIAs that were over 20 yrs old still running without problems. KIA seemed to be the most used vehicle. Even delivery trucks, like Coca-Cola, used Ki as. We just bought one and love it.

As mentioned before, cars aren't really "investments" because they lose value rather than accumulate it.

That said, Mazdas are mixed as far as quality--some are good some aren't. Some of the vehicles that share significant properties with Ford (Mazda6, Tribute, B4000) have suffered from quality issues according to Consumer Reports. However, others, including the Mazda3, have received very high marks and have been reported as very reliable.

On the other hand, my uncle has a Mazda 626 that is almost 20 years old and it still runs very well. Of course that was before Ford bought a major stake.

I have a 1991 Mazda mx-6 145,000 miles. We bought it in 1992 with 30,000 miles on it. This car owes me nothing still runs great never had a major problem except for the normal things that go on a car. If you want a dependable car that will last for years then I have no complaints with the Mazda.

Mazda, like all Japanese cars, are not particularly good investments, (if you are thinking of a potential future classic, that is ). The one exception might be the final incarnation of the RX-7. These were truly great sports cars.
If you are asking from a quality standpoint, yes, they are good investments.
