Good Morning,
I have 2 Dogs (Yorkies), And 2 cats (Calicos), They have all pretty much been raised together. My dogs have always slept on our bed. But now my 1 female cat has been wanting more attention than usual, and want's to sleep on our bed. My dogs do not like this, but my main problem is my hubby is allergic to cats. He is fine as long as they are not right next to him. How do I keep my cat off the bed? We have to leave our bedroom door open so we can hear the kids. Any suggestions on why she is suddenly changing, wanting more attention, and wanting to sleep with us. I know she is not pregnant both cats are spade. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks A head of time.

Both Cats are about a year and a half. And we leave the door open for my 3 year old daughter. It makes her feel safe.

I know it might seem a little mean, but it will work. Everytime your cat gets up on your bed, spray her with water from a water bottle. Cats hate water, she will get the hint and stop coming up there at nights or anytime.

I think that as animals age their personalities change, like people. The cat probably just wants attention and bed time is good because it can get close but no one touches it - perfect for a cat, right? There are a couple of things I would try. One is lion dung (no kidding, some pet stores Carry it) as cats find it intimidating, there are some sprays that repel cats and not dogs you can get at most pet stores like Pet Smart and last is moth flakes (moth balls). Moth flakes will keep the cats away (and maybe the dogs) and you have to like the smell.

Also, get the cat spayed if you're not going to breed it. You'll all be a lot happier.

Well, I have 7 cats and 2 large dogs. My one cat will sleep with me religiously, but I often wake up and find multiple sleeping buddies. (I am severly allergic to cats, allergy meds are my friend)
You are warm, its getting cooler. The cat is also getting more mature and likes to be with you.
Like others have stated, shut your door and use a monitor....
Have hubbie take allergy meds......
Gates will not work, trust me, over or under, they will find a way.
Try getting one of those pet bed warmers and put it elsewhere.
This might just be a phase, but a little squirt from a spray bottle might do the trick, but when you go to sleep that's the problem.
Good luck!

You have to think what's most important, your husband and daughter, or your cat. You shouldn't let the cat run your life. Get a rolled up newspaper and hit in next to her on the bed to get her off. THey hate that sound. IF that doesn't work, you may need to leave the door shut. If this is bad for your daughter, then maybe you need to get rid of the cat.

Buy her a bed and put cat nip on it. Maybe she'll take to a new sleeping place.

canines born with an intensely stable prey instinct do not prefer training to chase cats. The instinct is a factor of the genetic makeup a dogs is born with and can't be knowledgeable out of the dogs or surgically bumped off with the help of spaying. If a cat predates the advent of a pup that matures into an grownup with a stable prey tension, it may nicely tolerate/get alongside with the better half and youngsters cat, with all cats off the valuables honest game. What you have taken on is an grownup 3 twelve months previous dogs, with a generic huge prey tension and that dogs could by no skill be depended on around the cat, as though the suitable possibility provided itself, it would act on its instinct, delivered on with the help of circulation is the can ran or only because of the fact it grow to be there and you have been to not provide up the dogs (achievable to instruct a dogs impulse administration, with the dogs understanding its proprietor grow to be there to enforce their will over the canines) and heavily injure or kill it. If the two are staying your thoughts are limited. you may build the dogs a climate evidence outdoors kennel or shop it limited to one room interior the dwelling house, laundry room according to probability and insure which you have the cat thoroughly positioned away at the back of a locked door earlier you spend time with the dogs or take it out for workout. it extremely is available, while you're useful with regard to the character of the dogs and how it would view the cat and can react given the possibility.

If you want to avoid you cat in your room, you have to put a door between you. So, if you can't close your door for your daughter, you'lle have to lock the cat in a room.

But I don't think it's the solution. If your cat wants more affection, and if you "reject" her at night, she won't appreciate that...
Did you see or call a vet to have the opinion of a specialist about your cat attitude ? Maybe she's just sick or something, and need your company because she feels ill and don't want to be alone.

If the problem is your husband allergy, I suggest yo the program NAET to get rid of his allergy. I was cured from a few allergy thanks to NAET. Here's a link where you can find more information : http://www.naet.com/

I hope that could help you.

You may have to get a baby monitor because even if you shew the cat away a couple of times it will sneak back in in the middle of the night and jump back in the bed with you, my cat does this and so I really have to close my bedroom door.

I also have both cats and dogs. My cat goes through phases, she changes her sleeping preference frequently. For a while she like to sleep ONLY in the floor of the spare room closet, then ONLY in the top shelf of our bedroom closet, then Only the bed etc etc etc. So it is possible that it is just a phase. But if it causes serious health issues you may consider crating her at night.

I put a tall bed for mine next to my side of the bed right by my pillow so I could pet her at night. She wants attn and all you people want to do is punish her for that. Not fair, the dogs get to sleep there. If one child has a nightmare you let her sleep with you but if the other child has nightmares you tell her no. Come on.

I'm not sure why your cat is acting like that but try a baby gate that the cat can not climb, so you can still leave the door open.
