My 10 year old son had subtalar implants inserted about two years ago-these are little cylindrical plugs that go in between the bones to help correct flat foot. He had a severe case of this and the implants really corrected the problem. Now two years later he has been experiencing pain in his right foot and it seems as though the implant has began to wiggle itself out of position. This is something I was assured could not happen or the likeliness of it happening was very remote. The doctor wants to go back in and place the plug back in position. The problem is my sons dad (who pays for all medical bills) feel this doctor is trying to keep getting money from us, he wants us to remove the plugs altogether even though the doctor does not recommend it because my sons feet are still growing....My Ex says he will not pay for anything other than having the implants removed. He will not pay for the current doctor to remove them and he wants me to find a different doctor to do anything further.

I think that you should get a second or third opinion, and then speak with your ex.

It is important, that you get the right answer before removing the implant altogether, as it may damage his feet even further.

In the divorce decree there should have been a statement that said that he has to pay "X" amount of all medical expenses so if he refuses then the court can take legal action.
The implants helped and taking them out all together might hurt even more.
Get your second opinion and then approach your ex again with your findings. Do what is best for you child not your EX.
