when i had a tooth aik last i tried to chew on a piece of whole cloves it helped me i hope it helps you
you chew on it for about 10 minites
the clove numbs your mouth
you will after have a discusting taste
just take a drink and see how it goes

the hungrier you get, the more acidic your saliva gets...that could be one cause...
another cause with me...and this might sound gross, but i had a cavity that caused quite a bit of pain...when i ate something not sweet, the food would get lodged in there and prevent other stuff from getting in there...kind of forming a makeshift filling, but once it dissolved or came out, the tooth started to hurt again.
you should go to a dentist asap.

It might be that the a hole in the tooth gets filled with food and no air gets in so it stops hurting.

u need to get it filled, or u will have to get it pulled.
Use sensitive toothpaste.
Your food is probably in the hole of the tooth that fills it.
When u dont eat...air gets in the hole, nerves start hurtin.
Use teabags for pain.

i think its psychological...bcoz when u start munching you distract yourself and thats how u forget about pain.you better see your dentist before its too late.
