Dogs will always mark their territory as long as it is not done in your home it is perfectly normal.Territorial marking has nothing to do with being fixed. They mark to ward off other males it is to let them know this is my spot beware. Not that there is much to fear from a maltese but he does not know that and we will not tell him. Enjoy your little man!!!!

Your male will mark his territory forever. Male dogs pee a little everywhere to mark territory. He won't be interested in the bitches or humping your leg.

Are you talking about lifting his leg on every bush or tall blade of grass you pass when you're walking? If so, all males do that - he's just letting all the other dogs who passed there know he's here too - they all do it. As long as he's not lifting his leg in your house you have nothing to be concerned about.
