.......In support of more materialistic pursuits. For instance, we should focus more on our finances.

I guess some people feel you are threatening them somehow by your private faith/religious beliefs. But, how much do they have the right to feel threatened? Maybe they are just telling the truth as it is. Perhaps some people are over-reacting. What if they are over-reacting because they may in fact be addicted to something that is very similar to a drug such as opium, heroin or crack. If an addict feels threatened they won't get their drug they may become hostile.

I think that people try to debunk others religious faith because they themselves are not sure or we can say that they don't have 100% faith in their own religion.

another reason may be that they may not be fully satisfied with their own religion...

I guess because a lot of their views are pretty offensive and abusive, the way most religions with middle-eastern roots defame and vilify gays for example and the way they devalue women...there is a lot of ugly stuff passing as religion and it is a good idea to remind people about this often.

Religion is not always a social good and when it is it is only for the privileged few belonging to theat particular sect otherwise it is divisive and splits communities, religious sectarianism usually results in conflict of one kind or another.

So I would say it's often justified.

I don't worry about it. Just as what I have to say about it doesn't affect them in any way... neither do their words affect me. As for these faiths being private, I don't see that they are. If you take yourself and one other person who believes just like you do and this other person is constantly telling other people about this faith you share, except he is being verbally abusive... people of other faiths retaliate against the abuse itself, but use the religion to do it. In the end, we end up with bitter as.sholes who obsess over other people's beliefs, doing everything they can to knock it down. If they happen to knock a few doctrines/beliefs down, it builds their own belief, or lack of belief, up for themselves. And all the while, they ALL try to look intelligent doing it. I just don't see how any of that is really intelligent though.

Because 1. It goes against their beliefs;
2. because you want their opinion or agreement with you;
3. If it is private how did they know in the first place
4. Why do you want their endorsement for what you believe in

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm aware that my beliefs are precisely that-subjective beliefs, and unlike some I don't cross the line of seeking to establish them as indisputable facts, so I don't have any problem with people making valid criticisms of what I believe.

to paraphrase a famous quote from Gone With The Wind, " Frankly, I don't give a *** ----- ++++, whether you believe or not. even how you personally believe or not is unimportant to me. " I have to consider my own views and follow my own way as does everyone else. those who think similar thoughts band together and perform their similar Ritual and Ceremonies. however each of us have our own individual idiosyncrasies and therefore should never condemn the rights of others unless we want our own rights condemned.

Some people consider it their duty to convert people to their faith.

I have no problem with someone having a "private" faith.

Why do your teachers, your parents, classmates and other parents debunk your exam results?

To understand, to compare, to critic, to insult, to help, ..... you know, don't you?

Or you are just tired of busy buddies keep debunking your beliefs?

Why do religious people constantly try to shove religion down our throats? If you can't take it, quit dishing it out.
