cuz they are jealous of others interacting with you? My sennie HATED my husband and would be nice nice nice and then BITE HIM if he moved to fast, looked at him wrong, whatever. It was scary a bit - he'd chunk out half inch of skin! I would be very cautious of loud and fast moving people... that is when my sennie would be most "bitey"... don't put your sennie in a vulnerable position - they HATE that!!

A Senegal parrot is very much a "one person parrot". They tend to very temperamental and have somewhat, fiery dispositions.

Our Senegal, Harley is very sweet with my daughter (95%) of the time. He sits with her, does tricks for her, lays in her hand like a small green/orange puppy but ......everyone else in the world can just kiss his royal behind! He enjoys my company just enough to accept small peace offerings from my hand! Truthfully, I'd feel safer feeding a croc! lol

I call Harley a "little green pit bull". He may be a pint sized parrot, but with that formidable beak, he can open up human flesh like a can opener and when he does bite, he aims to maime! He bites....digs in with his feet to get a better bite hold and then makes a tearing action with his beak like a hawk tearing apart a rabbit! lol

Senegals are great companion birds! They are highly intelligent, playful and love attention. They are just seldom friendly to those outside their immediate flock!

As Free Bird very nicely put it, Senegal Parrots, like most parrots, are a "one person" type of parrot. This behavior can be corrected, however! It takes a lot of time and patience but it can be done. If you give your pet exposure to other people and allow them to talk to the bird softly, approaching it slowly and not making sudden hand gestures, the bird will become more comfortable with those people. I have a Hahn's McCaw that was somewhat partial to me but he's learned to embrace my entire family and even some of my friends. Another consideration to your animal's behavior is it's age. When a parrot hits puberty, it will naturally become more aggressive and territorial over it's cage. I like to call it the terrible two's for birds! Again, with time, patience and work, your parrot will become more managable and used to dealing others, as well as you! Good luck to you!

senegals are notoriously nippy. It has probably bonded with you. I would not expect any of my 40 odd parrots to tolerate strangers handling them.
p.s. Sirena it isn't a McCaw it is a macaw. I can tell you haven't read any books about them otherwise you would know how to spell it :0)

You've heard of one person dog, well parrots are like that they have a trust issue with others strangers don't know that a parrot needs to decide if it will accept others not up to the person. My parrot has is 12 years old and will interact with others but does not allow them to touch him sometimes I put him myself on someones shoulder and he will leave their shoulder and come onto mine. That's just the nature of the beast!!

you parrot bites other people because he feels threatened by them. when it gets used to people around he will stop. Also they are very afraid of children so keep kids away for fear of child losing an eye or finger

your parrot bites because, like most parrots, they become very attached to one person and become territorial about them. i have an african grey who only lets me handle himbecause he sees me as his/her mate!

it's used to your presence and feels safe with a familiar person. it bites others because it knows that only you are his owner and friend and it feels threatened by them and protective/possessive of you
