in your story both are drunks and if the beliver kills someone on the way home he can feel better Jesus forgave him and the next time the urge hits him he can do it again and hopefuly he will not kill again, on the no beliver after the same thing will be full of remorse and ask god to forgive him, and hopfuly he learn not run anyone over again either, so both and all live in sin, and thinking like this can make you think its ok if you hurt someone because god will forgive you, the fact is as soon as your off the hook with the law, your happy again, and the family on the hurt side will forgive but never forget, but they have a true loss as do the drunks

As a Catholic, I would answer, "Christians 'hope' to make it to Heaven." But, no, it's not a "fact". They can't be certain of their eternal fate because that is God to decide.
We must believe in Christ (faith) but we also need to live out our faith as well (in works/action) until the end. But finally we put our trust in God, not in our own assumptions. ^_^
God bless.

No, in fact, quite the opposite.
Christianity is based on the fact that we lead wicked lives, and that Jesus lived a truly good life in our stead. It is through God looking at Jesus' righteousness, instead of our sins, that we are saved.
Jesus told us to repent of our sins and ask God for forgiveness for them. That means that, although we still sin, we do not live in iniquity (that is, that although we might be tempted to lie or steal or whatnot, succumb to it, and then follow through, we truly are sorry for it, we ask for forgiveness, and make a heartfelt determination to change and avoid doing it again... instead of saying "Oh well" and continue on doing it in the hopes we are never caught).
Consider this comparison :
A saved Christian gets drunk, wakes up with a hangover the next morning, and after realizing how humiliated he is, swears off alcohol. A long time passes before it happens again, because he's avoided as many situations where it could happen again as possible. But the temptation, in his own mind, is too great when he is at a family reunion, and it happens again. Once again, feeling humiliated for acting as such, he strives again to avoid alcohol.
An unsaved person gets drunk, wakes up with a hangover, takes a couple anti-hangover pills, shrugs it off, and a week later goes drinking again, without concern about the hangover he suffered with last week.
Therein lies the difference between falling prey to sin, and living in iniquity. Sin is a brief lapse in moral judgement. Iniquity is ignoring moral judgement. That is also the basis of salvation, is that the Christian does not continue in iniquity, but is sorry for their sins and makes the effort to change.

No assumptions.. but facts... These facts can not be understood by normal people and by non believers.... Because they don't have the holy ghost which is inside every beliver...
1st Corinthians 12:3 "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost."
Hebrews 11:1-3 "1 ¶ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

nope. We base our lives on the precepts given by Jesus Christ written in the Bible. That, combined with the Holy Spirit's guidance is what we use to attempt to live a life that emulates Jesus'.
We also cannot assume we go to Heaven. Only through repentance of our sins and following Jesus, can we get there. No amount of good deeds/life will suffice without Jesus.

OK . I will make this short and to the point.
Jesus is alive right now. Jesus was tortured and killed to make a way for us to restore fellowship with GOD. Christianity is based on a relationship with the living GOD through the living Christ. No assumptions. Just facts. Jesus is a fact. What you and Jesus are is up to you.
GOD bless ya.

It appears you have two thoughts confused. Christians believe they will go to heaven because of "faith". Many peope that do not claim to be Christians believe they will go to heaven because they are a "good person". Christians believe that a no mattter how good a person you are, that all men fall short of what it would take to get into heaven without the redemption of sin through Christ dying on the cross and being resurrected three days later.

No,
Chrisitianity is based upon the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and that Christians recieve salvation through no purchase price.
It is taught there is not one thing a Christian can do to earn salvation, however that it is a free gift given by God and his grace, through Jesus Christ the Son.
I assure you if anyone tries to get to Heaven via good works they won't be very successful.
However from as far as I have heard, Catholics seem to believe good works and Jesus get you there... ? Not sure, I've heard it quite a few times.

Most people do assume most things about their faith -- many who call themselves Christian assume they know what salvation is; what the Gospel is; that heaven is the reward that God offers; etc....; Athyists assume they know all there is to the universe; ...
But the God of the Bible teaches that we should NOT assume things, for he teaches that we should, "Prove all things" (1Th 5:21). That includes things like: whether God actually exists; whether his way of life is right and good; whether the Bible is his teachings or not; etc....
True Christianity is NOT based upon assumption; but there are many pretenders. Beware of making a false assumption in believing you know what Christianity is and who are among them.

Christianity is not about one's ability to live a good life. It is about believing and receiving Jesus as the Messiah. He has made atonement for our sins because Christianity teaches that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) and there are none that can be good enough to be in the presence of a Holy God. Christ died, sacrificed Himself, so that all we have to do is believe in Him and we will be forgiven of our sins and allowed to live eternally with God in heaven.
The "living a good life" part comes in after we accept Jesus as our Savior, we realize what a sacrifice He made and how wonderfully merciful and forgiving God is. In response to what God has done for us, we attempt to follow Christ and lead a "good life" because we want to please God.
Hope this helps.
Much love.
