Sorry this is driving me nuts!! The dictonary says Quran, but I keep seeing Koran. What gives?

Like many words, Koran is more an English spelling of the
Arabic spelling Quran.

There is no proper spelling in Roman letters because there are no official transliteration rules from arabic to english.

Most commonly now a days they use Quran or Qur'an. But Koran, although it is outdated is still used.

The English word is Koran.

Qu'ran / Koran....doesn't matter. Both are recognized as correct spelling...

....kind of like Hannukah and Channuka

Actually, the Arabic albaphet is different from English - so it cannot be completely adapted to English.
- in my home Qur'an book - in English it is spelled Qur'an - and real reading of the Qur'an is when it is recited in Arabic.

Most Muslims books say Quran.... a lot of words are changed to suit the west for example... shiite.... there is no such word.... we call ourselves Shiia... no "t".....
