I'm a Christian and I believe in Jesus Christ my savior, but is it against God's teachings to practice mindfulness in Buddhism. Because it's a wise thing to do and not a sinful thing, it teaches you to be good and to respect. So is it bad if I practice mindfulness and Christianity together? I want a good answer from a Christian.

It seems to me that there are many references in the New Testament where Jesus is asking people to look and learn, about birds, flowers, mustard seeds, and countless others. Mindfulness is essentially working on paying attention to things as they are without imposing anything pre-conceived onto what you see. There are some in the Christian world afraid of you doing that, but you needn't worry but rather make up your own mind as your spirituality is a personal journey.

I can't imagine how they could possibly twist that into a bad thing! Maybe because it's not a christian concept, and some believe that anything not of god is of satan.

But just think about it - mindfulness is nothing more than simply paying attention to what you're doing. Blocking out the mental to-do lists and all that silly chatter in your head.

I don't see how that could possibly be considered evil.

Without a precice definition of "mindfulness" it is really impossible to answer this question. If you are talking about a quieting of the self, so as to clear your mind, then there is nothing wrong with that. If "mindfulness" involves meditating on some foreign deity or the invoking of any spiritual power other than God, then yes, there is a problem.

Anyone can practice mindfulness. It's a way of life thought over 2500 years ago by Buddha.

But Buddhism is a total opposite of GOD creation religions.

I'm not a Christian but if I could express my view because I have read scripture in its entirety and I haven't seen any text that discourages moral practice as encouraged by Buddhism. Christians should remember that Buddha never actively discouraged belief in any God-he just didn't emphasise it as being of supreme importance.
