I have had this too and it lasted about 6 weeks. I was quite worried when it was at it's worst as I was constantly aware of it, like a ball wedged in your throat. I did a bit of investigation and it's nothing to worry about at all - it is directly related to anxiety and stress and just the contraction of a muscle there (some weird name for it I can't remember), and can also be made worse with heartburn so avoid spicy food. It will go away on it's own, I just noticed one day that I didn't feel it anymore and couldn't say exactly when I went away. It's horrible I know, but worrying what it is will make it worse - if you google 'lump in throat' you will get loads of info

I've had this lump in my throat sensation since January of this year. Around June was when it stayed with me. All before it would just come and go. After endoscopies, barrium swallows and x-rays they determined that it was a benign tumor in the muscular lining of my esophagus. The lesion is near the opening of my stomach but the lump in my throat is the referred sensation of that lesion. I go for surgery on the 5th of this month. For months I thought it was just stress. For you ... it could be as simple as that, but you'll be thankful if it is something far worse that the doctors were able to catch early on.

Are you sure it's not your parents fist, otherwise pop into your local chemist and ask for advice before consulting a doctor, it might be something trivial.
