I have just started driving an 'F' reg 205 as my first car. What have been others experiences of the car nostalgic or other wise? And how does it compare to other more modern cars of similar type?

Its just like the 1.6 gti with out the moudings and insurance cost.
In my opinion its a great car. They are obviously more basic compared to our modern cars but they are 17 years old now.
Great acceleration, exellent handling, light weight. What more would you want from a car. Great all rounder.

About as much as I think of what my dog left on the other side of the lawn this morning. I know two unfortunates who owned (NB past simple tense - finished action) one of these and they both broke often. In the end they went to the scrapyard because of terminal gearbox problems. Buy a Toyota!

I think it is a (sometimes) rolling s***-box that only compares to an orange crate with wheels. But that's just my opinion.

nice little cars... if you can get a gti one 1.6 or 1.9**
then if you looked after it, it will be worth alot of money. future classic...
**1.9. was the greatest gti made.....
