No. Well, yes, kicking a dwarf in the face. But it was self defence. But the rest, no. It highlights social awkwardness so well. People don't mean to be racist or downsindromist or homophobic, but if the wrong thing is said it can be taken out of context. Maggie seems rather dim, and keeps saying the wrong thing. She really doesn't mean any harm.

Also, it challenges peoples views on stereotypes often. Dwarfs are real people who really get cross, and aren't just comic figures on telly. Downsyndrome people meet discrimination daily, so no wonder their parents go off on one. The only person made to look silly was Richard off RichardandJudy for being so distasteful. Extras highlights distastefulness and makes the rest of us very keen not to come across like that ever ever ever.

That's weird, I was just talking to someone about the very same thing. Normally I don't think it's so bad but I found last night's one made me feel very uneasy just because the three main characters are getting to the point of ridiculous. I think what it may be is that it is still kind of realistic and the thought that there are people out there like that makes me kind of sick. They have no concept of tact and right or wrong that they all deserve to be screwing up each others' lives. I'll still watch it next week though in the hope that Andy gets some humility.

I understand what you mean, but that's where the humour comes in. Don't you think that some people in real life are distasteful and Extras just brings that point home?

No I find it very entertaining,I think this type of humour breaks down barriers and stops disabilities being taboo. How many people just stare at people with disability and won't even give them the time of day,I think programmes like this help people to understand that people like this are human beings too with feelings, and much more approachable than you may think.

yes but thats what makes it funny, I suppose the office was similar. Its great that image concious celebrities agree to take part and poke fun at themselves.

I would love to see more American Celebrities big names get involved to. Hey maybe they will do an American Version, like they did with the Office
