I got fed up with hip hop for a while because the lyrics were so weak like always about pimpin', hos, and cash. I've been listening since back in the day when there was often an actual message in the music. recently got back into it with the whole "underground" hip hop genre.

I know it's completely subjective, but to me it seems like good music (eg. a new sound, innovative, not formulaic...) generally is called "alternative". Popular music is just a comfort zone, money making business. I find this applies to every genre from rock to hip hop to country (yes!! there is decent country, just not the pop stylee)

Just curious on your thoughts on why this is so, or if not give me some examples of some great pop music.

i don't listen to pop, i love metal, but the only reason i can come up with is that the record companies don't know what they're doing anymore. sex sells and people with real talent don't have "the look" so they don't get noticed at all. i wish that this sadistic aesthetic that is forced upon western civilization would be done away with. if possible, do away with those who go by it too. but wait, then we wouldn't have anyone else on the planet because the aesthetic is like a disease that's spread to other countries and now they've been contaminated it can't be undone.

music that is played on radio or satlite whateverthings, isnt all that real but like tv and movies we watch its construted, however alternitve music is made by people who have a real message and figure that if they start a a band n get good enough the message will get played on the radio and then the world will hear them, instead of some popstars having rich parents or something else to do with money
