was driving fine,no noise upon shifting, clutch feels like it is engaging, pulled into my driveway shifted up into first gear, parked, shut off the car. hours later started car, went to shift into reverse and the gear shift is stuck in 4th gear!!! Will not budge from 4th gear. Tried shutting the car off and shifting out of 4th, the gear shift will not move. This has me extremely bewildered. Any body please help

Shifting forks worn out. Pull the top of the tranny in your car and take a screwdriver and pry the forks back inline.

sounds like the linkage is jammed. if you are going to jack up the car, used a hydraulic floor jack and jack stands, then go under and check the linkage. also check the shifter pivot (under the shifter boot)it may have come loose
