This is an error within windows and without knowing the "info" it's difficult to diagnose. You could try doing a system restore - go to a point several days back. The ultimate option is to do a complete re-install making sure you back up any data you want to keep ( docs, favourites et al). Rather than download SP2 you can order it from Microsoft on CD (link below)

i changed into having this similar right problem this week. After reading a lot of similar Q&As, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox. It worked and that i wasn't having any worry employing Yahoo Mail through Firefox. Then, for the heck of it I opened IE7 to envision it out again, and it really is now operating too!!!! flow make sure. I even do not understand why. Very problematic. yet a minimum of it really is operating without shutting down when I attempt to apply digital mail. also, flow to "approaches", "cope with upload-ons" and disable each little thing to work out if that would make a distinction. i changed into getting some blunders as a results of an issue with Shockwave.

Heat and static electricity will both cause the problems that you describe. Open your side cover. If the heatsink over the processor is more than a little warm you need better cooling. If your outlet is not wired correctly, it may still work for regular electrical appliances, but it will give you nasty computer problems. Test it with a three-prong electrical outlet tester. They are cheap and available at the hardware store.

I agree it is almost certainly a virus. If you know what you're doing, avoid System Mechanic and similar apps that you have to pay for.
Have you installed SP1? Presume you have Windows XP Home or Professional. Have you got a virus checker and firewall? Unfortunately, these problems can be hard to crack. PC Avisor magazine has a very good Helproom on their website but give as much info as possible about your system when posting your problem
