The best I have heard so far is that its like spiderplants, a little bit of smurf grows on another then breaks off and grows into a full grown one? Any better ideas?

I thought you knew, when a smurf and a smurfette really likes eachother the smurfs sticks his smurf inside the smurfette, if that smurf has been smurfing then the chances for producing a smurf is greater. Non traditional smurfette couples use turkey baisters.

when it's time to smurf, we all smurf to the forest and do a great smurf. During the night we all smurf around the fire and smurf until we all fall asleep.
In the morning we smurf home and there's always a new smurf.

Well, first they smurf the hell out of each other all night long. After this, they then wait, hope and pray for all best.
Alternatively, they could just wait for Gargamel to make more Smurflings, like on the TV show (god, I can't admit that I even remember that...).

The process you are referring to is called budding, and that is how yeast and other unicellular life forms reproduce. Smurfs have to reproduce that way, since they have the human form but not the equipment.
It is a good thing they reproduce so fast. When they are broiled, they tast like steak; when they are fried, they taste like chicken, and they lay a dozen eggs and two quarts of milk every day.

Presumably in the usual way with Nympho Smurf or whatever her name was - Smurfette? She's female, the others look male but they might not be.
