Well yes you are In some way and not your not in other ways

A transvestite is any where between
dare i say it again a normal person and a transgender but that has a blurry line as well
they all are labels and its you how decides what to be call your self
if you would rather be called a crossdresser then a transvestite then it is you who is the one to say
i have always thought the two where the something but it is your own chose and i think crossdresser sounds better

No, it is a myth that "crossdresser" and "transvestite" are synonyms. A crossdresser is someone who enjoys the theatrical part of wearing women's clothes, the extrovert. A transvestite is someone who gets sexual fulfillment (like me ;) ) from dressing up. You're not neccessarily one if you're the other but there's a good chance most of the time. Hope that helps sweetie!

That depend on what you mean by these terms,
generally speaking a crossdresser is regarded as being more or less the same thing as a transvestite.

crossdressing is generally regarded as the mildest form of variant gender expression.

Below is the address of Lynne Conway's website. She is a T woman, but the site offers a full discussion of the differences between all these terms.
Look under the heading TV/TG/TS

I'm assuming that you are biologically male but like to wear womens clothing? You are not necessarily a transvestite. It is a matter of degree. If you take on the persona of a woman and live a good part of your life as a women ie work, family & social engagements etc, then you can consider yourself a transvestite.

If you like to 'play' at being female, for pleasure or just for the experience, then no. You're just open minded, enjoy role playing, and perhaps just a touch kinky if you take on a female role during sex.

You can be gay or straight or bi and dress as you like. I have a good friend (male & straight & married) who has confided that he likes to cross-dress role play with his wife. She's OK with this. He just wanted someone non-judgemental to talk with about his 'quirk'.

Whatever makes you happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I was! I just liked wearing frilly unders and lacey outer clothes. Until, by accident or fate, I discovered boys! I decided I prefer males and came out. I was "gay" in the jargon, but I still enjoyed wearing the girly clothes. I went and talked with many TV/TS/TG (I lived in SF,Cal) and they all told me the same thing; do what feels best for you! I did. I decided I'm a woman in a man's body! Simple. Or is it?? I'm a pre-op and doubt I'll get the operation, as I'm too old to even think about that now! LOL!! I've been carefull and just cuz I dress like a girl it don't mean I'm a whore!! I've made really good friends and I've enjoyed my life. It's wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do, and all I can say is don't wait till it's too late to find out. Good luck!

Yeah, that's what transvestite means. Don't worry though. You can cross dress and be straight. Eddie Izzard is. Or you can be gay - a drag queen I think the term is.

It is very different from transexual or transgendered, which is where you feel that you are the wrong sex and want a sex change.

Transvestite is Latin for crossdresser. Think of it like TVs are grammar schoolgirls and CDs are secondary mods.

You like to cross dress. You dont have to call yourself a transvestite if you're not happy with that term. Its what you do not what you are so why give it a lable? :)

YES

transvestite comes from the root:
'trans' meaning cross or across - as in trans siberian railway
'vest' meaning clothing - as in vestments
'ite' a person - belonging to a group - as in israelite, luddite

Transvestite *MEANS* someone who likes to crossdress
