Or a forward roll? Or a backroll for that matter? Why do they teach us these things in school? When are they ever applicable to real life?

Have never been able to do a cartwheel in my life and it has been some time since I have done any form of roll. This reminds me of my sons grade 2 teacher. She was a very eccentric old lady who had some very funny ideas one of which was getting the children to skip around the netball court every morning. She was also a fantastic teacher and cared a lot about her students. I arrived with my son to school one day and she asked to speak with me about my son. I was quite concerned about this as wondered what was wrong. She looked me right in the face with a very serious expression and said 'are you aware that your son cant skip' so I had to have this discussion about how we were going to improve his skipping as this was such a major concern. I had quite a lot of trouble keeping a straight face. My son is now 16 and has managed to achieve quite a lot, but I still don't think he can skip.

They aren't really applicable to real life, but they are fun to do in gym when you are a kid at school, and they keep you good and supple.

The last time I did one was about 3 months ago on holiday in Mallorca. It was about 5 in the morning, and we were on the beach... Ahem.... Yes, I'd had a couple...And I did a cartwheel and a forward roll, with the added bonus of a handstand over into crab position!!!

My bf was impressed. It hurt the next day...

When did I get old and unfit????? I'm only 22!!??

;-) LOL!!!

I did one two weeks ago at my mom's house just
to show my niece I could still do one at age 37!
Shut her up pretty quick, too!
They're applicable to real life when you have kids you want to amaze.
They always think we're old-fashioned or dinosaurs or something!
Besides, it's just plain fun. : )
