Someone else asking other people to do their homework?
If not, be careful. You can go to Yahoo! or Google and type in Islam or Muslim without having a www address, but most of the stuff you'll find is anti-Islam. It's this anti propaganda that has got the world into this mess. Try to visit as many sites as possible and, leaving your pre-conceived ideas to one side, try to form your own opinion - and yes, it would probably help to talk to Muslim people.

Google Islam. Wickipedia is not necessarily the most accurate source because it can be "edited" by members of the public, so, for an unbiased and informed site I would try www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/islam
The comparative religions site from the same source is also interesting.
Good reading!

You're hitting the internet when you should be hitting the library.

Find a real encyclopaedia.
