I want to buy an ipod but as the last one came out a year ago, I don't want to buy one yet if it's about to be replaced with a newer model. Also, is the new one likely to cost a lot more than the current one?

Well, Apple is keeping it as a secret so no one knows except them. It is very unpredictable. But for my opinion, i think you should wait for the next iPods. =)
