Could you please try to not agree with it because I'm on the negaitve side in my debate and I need reasons why not.

I guess that depends on what they are writing about. If they are writing a book on how to do open heart surgery then, no. But if its history, politics, or news then yes, I believe in some cases it is obligatory.
