"Sweden is the present-day nation state with the longest history of continuous peace. Since its 1814 invasion of Norway, the Swedish kingdom has not engaged in war."
Edit to add;
That doesn't really make us a peaceful people. We just doesn't bother with war as a nation.
Edit to add;
Ros you might be right that the Swiss are most peaceful as a nation, but they did have a civil war in 1847. (It only lasted for a month though.)

Now i ask i had to think! What about the Swiss? They are neutral and i mean really neutral! They'r not part of the EU, still have their own money, do not become embroiled into other nations politics! Yes i think they would be the one nation that is truly peaceful. Having said that ... I don't know how they all get on between French/German and Italian speaking communities! one thing for sure ... They seem to be the only nation not to suffer riots! So they must get on fine.
