I wore BLUE sunglasses during the interview on a normal cloudy morning, sitting inside a restaurant!!
After 4 rounds of gruelling interviews for Investment Banking manager role, I had the final interview just 15 minutes ago. So, this guy who is the European head came to my city for business and asked me to join for breakfast in a restaurant.
I had conjuctivitis infection this morning so I decided to wear sunglasses. I borrowed from my roomie, who only had this techy FU*KING blue sunglasses. Interview at 7.30am, no shop open so I ended up sitting in front of this European head wearing my sunglasses during the whole interview.
I explained him the situation, but guys sincerely, do u think I still hav chances to get the job.

Yoohooo.
Guys finally got a call today. Got an offer. I think the guy liked teh color of the glasses or just me.
But the money is £72K; 3k less than expected. So the glasses costed me 3k.
The costliest sunglasses I've seen!!!

You have a chance if the other candidates were clearly inferior if however another was close to you then they would probably get it.

Why

Because I would think

A) This person is already run down/ill before they work for me what will they be like after a year of giving 100% to my company.

B) They clearly dont think ahead and couldnt find a more discreet eyewear ( how would I feel if I wasnt hiring you but taking you along to meet a really important client at 7.30am!!)

C) If you have had 4 rounds of interviews and you dont know by now if the job is yours ( Buying signals from the interviewer) then you may struggle as a manager.

As I say if its close I wouldnt hire you if you are miles in front then yes you will get it.

BUT ask yourself honestly using the rationale above would you hire you if you had another candidate that was close- when you are a manager you will have to make those kinds of decisions.

Congratulations on the job offer. It may have been for three thousand less than you were expecting, but since this is the first offer, maybe you can go back and ask to ensure that the vision and eyecare plan will make up for it, Mr. Pink Eye :)

After all, you don't get what you deserve: you get what you can negotiate. Something tells me they wouldn't have had you go through four interviews if they didn't want to hire you in the end. Use that to your advantage: say to them (don't put it in writing yet -- call them up) "Hey, nice offer, is it possible to improve on it at all?" If they say no, ask about the perks that may make up for the 3K. Try your best, and again congratulations.

They might accept the explanation. If I condcuted the interview, i would try to judge the sincerity of your response. I am however a naturally suspicious person so would try to check if you often wear sunglasses to work and possible reasons for that (late nights etc). I might also possibly schedule a follow up interview in 2 weeks to see if the conjunctivitis has cleared.

Perhaps you have simply overlooked the fact that not just black people wear sunglasses during TV interviews. Some people like wearing sunglasses indoors as well as outdoors. I don't particularly trust people who won't look me in the eyes when talking. It's like they have something to hide, but that may not be the case.

Firstly what a hellish time for an interview!!!! I am sure the blue glasses were better looking than a weeping, gungy and red eye! Good luck hope you get the job. Too late to worry now.

I suppose a good manager would be more impressed with the fact that you managed to come for an interview with conjunctivitis and you also managed to make the most of your resources, both are appreciable traits. Lets hope your guy was a smart man!

Why, if you exlained the situation would you not take off the sunglasses. I really hope you get the job but if I were interviewing you; I honestly cant say I would have been impressed.

Well on the upside, he came to you.

On the downside, unless you are a famous rapper or international cocaine dealer, never wear sunglasses inside.

It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. With sunglasses on, you just draw the curtains.

If you were the right person for the job then what you wear, unless outrageous, would not matter. However if used bad language as you have in your question I would think that you are sunk.
Why did you think that using bad language was necessary. It did nothing for the question and probably nothing for you as a person.
