Yeah I'm not certain on all of that. I was 14 years old when I was pregnant with my first and my periods were really irregular so I didn't think I was pregnant. So I went on my merry way, wore bikinis to the beach and everything else. At 7 mos I was feeling fluttery things in my stomach and growing fat. I told my mom and we got a pregnancy test and I was pregnant. So to an extent I can see that maybe one wouldn't know they are pregnant but only for so long. I had no symptoms whatsoever other than the missing period. But I definitely figured thing out when I grew and felt movement. I guess maybe a bigger girl wouldn't feel movement so soon?? Maybe anyhow. Denial is also a key issue. If you BELIEVE you aren't pregnant then you simply won't be in your mind and your mind will block out what your body is trying to tell you.

Yep, my aunt had her last baby in the doctors surgery, after having no clue she was pregnant. She was 42 and already had 4 boys, so another child wasn't in the gameplan. She was on the pill, and apparently my uncle had had a vasectomy (didn't work obviously.) She'd always had irregular periods, and that didn't change throughout pregnancy. Baby was lying more towards the back, so she didnt gain enough weight to notice anything out of the ordinary other than middle age spread, and she didn't notice any baby movements. With babies deep in the pelvis, this isn't abnormal anyway. She put the backaches down to sleeping in the wrong position, she never suffered any major symptoms, and put the minor ones down to the menopause possibly starting. Whilst in the gp's surgery to discuss what she thought was the menopause, she went into labour and had a healthy baby girl. She loves her only daughter to distraction and she's a great mother, but she's still mortified almost a year later to think she'd been pregnant without realising. Personally, i find it weird too even whilst knowing it is possible. I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and i feel pregnant. I cant imagine going 9 months without knowing the joy of pregnancy, going for scans and seeing your baby on the screen, etc.. My aunt isn't even particularly large either, so she can't blame her ignorance on being overweight..

I've heard those stories and the only explanation I can come up with that either those people are incredibly dense or they are drama queens. Possibly both in some cases.
I honestly don't know how a person could go 9 months with the symptoms involved and not think something was out of the ordinary. It's not normal to be perfectly fine and then all of a sudden you have morning sickness at any given time of the day or night for 3+ months and then you're fine again. Your belly starts growing but you aren't gaining weight elsewhere (in today's society, that would be the first sign since everyone is so obsessed with being thin) but yet you don't find that odd in the least. Or 9/10 months without any period. Wouldn't you think something was up then? The contractions are nothing like period cramps, so I've been told by many women. Plus many other things.
I'm sorry but that is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard and I've run across some real whackjobs in my life. The scary thing is that there are people who out there who think this kind of thing is perfectly normal.

My friend had this happen to her! She was about 18, carrying some extra weight at the time and it was fluctuating anyway and her periods had always been eratic. she started to complain of back ache really badly and they called a doctor out who prescribed pain killers (what a genius) but as the night went on it got worse and she was rushed to hospital...where she gave birth to a healthy, full term little boy!
I have no idea how she didn't feel the kicks etc but i would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when she rang her boyfriend and told him!!!!!!
If you think you might be pregnant do a test and trust me, after having a baby the movements are pretty sensational. if you stomach migrates from one side of your body to the next, that's not normal without a baby in there!

My mom's friend gave birth without knowing she was pregnant. She was overweight anyways, and she had actually lost weight through the "nausea" months. She didn't have periods because she was overweight, and something to do with her being overweight caused her to not have them. She went into the hospital and gave birth. Luckily she was very healthy.
I also worked with a lady who didn't know she was pregnant until she was 8 months. She had just gotten out of the army, so the stress of exercise caused her to miss her periods every month. She had only gained 20 pounds, and she thought it was from eating too much after getting out of the army. Come to find out she was 8 months pregnant. I am pregnant now (due in April) and believe me there is no way I couldn't have known I was pregnant.

It happened to a friend of mine. She continued to have periods and only gained around 10 lbs in weight - enough to be slightly noticeable but that could be put down to overdoing the choccies. One night she was taken to hospital with suspected appendicitis and gave birth later that evening. It was a terrible shock and for a couple of days her and her boyfriend were considering putting the baby up for adoption. Luckily, they didn't and now they have a very happy, healthy 10 yo.
Afterwards, it transpired that her mother had the same problem and needed to take a pregnancy test every month to confirm that she wasn't pregnant.

No. But this did happen to my best friend. She had no idea she was pregnant. She was in her early 20s and was still living at home. She had a period every month. She did gain a bit of weight but she had broken up with her boyfriend and thought it was from stress. She didn't look pregnant. One night she was having terrible stomach pain so she was soaking in the tub. Her dad woke up because she was crying and moaning. He thought maybe it was her appendics. So, he drove her to the hospital. The staff was running vitals on her and listening to her describe the pain. As an after thought a nurse decided to listen for a fetal heartbeat. It turned out she was pregnant and in labor. A few years later she got married. Her and her husband were trying to get pregnant. She thought she might be pregnant so she went to the doctor and found out she was not only pregnant but she was already 5 months along!!

I know what you mean. I am 37 weeks pregnant and have loads of movement which could not by any st reach of the imagination be thought of as "wind" and by the size of the belly could not deny the pregnancy! Hope you are only having post re-fried bean activity!!!!!

Not wishing to sound unkind, but I think that usually the women involved in these stories are a bit on the large side. Because they are already obese they don't realise they've got a bun in the oven!

Im not saying all of them but I reckon most of them know deep down that they are pregnant but they are so in denial they talk themselves out of it, not even that theyre lying to everyone but that they actually believe themselves they are not pregnant. Fair enough you may be pregnant and still have your period but surely you would put on a little weight / know someone wasnt quite right or the same as before
