China has/have had a population problem, too many persons to feed with too little food. They had to be inventive with the things they had and also be willing to try new things. That has weaved into their culture and beliefs and still lingers on today.

Some branches of Chinese medicine believe that eating a certain animal will fill the person with the qualities of that animal. Hence the trade in Tiger Penis Wine for people who feel that the are underperforming compared to a tiger...

Afraid it would do nothing for my constitution at all, but needs must and if the Chinese want to eat it then nothing wrong with that, if we all liked the same sort of thing it would be a a miserable world.

It just looks wierd to you because you are not Chinese. If you were you would. I ask myself the same. Who on earth would eat a rat.

...Our likes are different and vary from cultures to cultures....

Some people think meat is something yucky..but youll probably disagree with that....

Because the are too mean to buy supermarket stuff. they would rather kill a dog than go to Waitrose---come to think of it, so would I.

its all in how you grew up. to them some of the stuff you eat may seem weird. its all about where you came from.
