I get my new car delivered today at 2p.m. but I dont take my driving test til next Friday.I've got to walk past it each day on the way to the bus stop. Being as the police now have a database of uninsured driversetc. do you think I'd get away with driving it for a week or would that be just plain ridiculous?I'min a transitional time of my life right now where I'm beginning to do the right thing at last but will this just be too tempting? What would you do?

Dude! What bad timing you have. You should have waited until AFTER you got your license. That definitely is a bummer.

But, if you get caught driving without a license and insurance, you will be selling that car. So suck it up for a week and then you will be in terrific shape.

Have fun driving - LEGALLY!!!!!

This would be a very foolish risk to take. If you can easily afford a huge fine and don't care about a few months in prison feel free to drive it but if you don't want the penalty don't take the risk.
I lost my liscence around two years ago (for a medical condition) and I hate not being able to drive, if I had actually lost my car and liscence by taking a stupid risk I would really hate myself over taking that risk.
Spend the week practicing for your driving test and think of the car as thew reward for having passed rather than just a crazy toy for you to abuse.
I hope you see sense and do the correct thing and that you pass your driving test - good luck mate!

And what if you don't pass? What if you drive the car without a full licence and get nicked? That car's going to be on the driveway a lot longer that a week. You want to risk starting your driving career with points on your licence, you must be mad. If you're really going through transition, you wouldn't even consider breaking the law and putting other people at risk - you ain't passed yet - you can't legally drive - it's dangerous, no matter how well you think you can drive, you don't have the paperwork to prove it. Leave it!

As in all walks of life - you take the pleasure NOW and you pay for it for the rest of your life.
I was interested in your question because in my youth I drove several hundred miles alone to take my test in the town where my mum was living. I did this three times becaue I failed it the first two times. Finally on third attempt I passed and the next day just as I joined the motorway I was stopped by the police (and, of cousre, had my PASS certificate.
However I am not recommending that you do the same -I have seen several youngsters die on our local raods who ahd no licence
so BEST ADVICE IS TO WAIT and concentrate on that PASS
Good luck with it

Well driving without a licence would be really silly as you could get into a lot of trouble. Also without insurance makes it really really silly imagine you crash not only do you not have a licence you do not have insurance you would really be in trouble and for the sake of a few days I would just leave it to be honest. Then once you have passed and got your insurance you can drive around safe in the knowledge you did the right thing

This would be very silly thing to do, as all it takes is for some one to cause an accident and you would be in very deep S**T. And then you could say bye bye to your driving licence for a along time and even when you got your licence you would never get insurance. Just stick it out get your licence and insurance and then enjoy your new car with a clear mind

DON'T DO IT. If you get caught you will get banned! You may not pass your test, have you thought of that?? What's the point in getting a ban before you even get a license?? If you drive with no insurance and you have an accident, you could be charged with allsorts, including manslaughter which would involve a prison sentence.

Is it really worth it dude??

I would wait for sure! It's not that you're a bad driver, but there are a LOT of wreckless drivers out there. If you got in an accident, you would regret it! It's only a week. You'll feel so much better once you know you can drive legally! good luck on your test!

DON'T, whatever you do, drive before you pass your test. You will lose your licence before you even get it.

Also, you will not be insured. Can you afford to pay if you disable someone for life??? I am talking possibly millions of pounds!! Give your keys to someone to hold on to UNTIL you pass your test and have full insurance, mot etc.

You sound confident that you are going to pass your test also - don't be too cocky!!! Good luck.

Wait and pass your test, not only is it the legal way but think how great you'll feel when you can slide in behind the steering wheel knowing that you're not looking over your shoulder all the time for panda cars and not all jumpy in case you hit something because you aren't insured!!!!
