Besides their sexual preference, they dont need to act differently at all. I do wish they wouldn't.
I suspect many of them fall for the stereotypes that they hear and see and adapt to that, not knowing better.

You realize that question is very vague and I am not sure if you mean why do they act differently from one another or straight people. If you do mean straight normal people, they don't all act the same. Some straight people play football, others hate sports. Some raise families, others are ruthless killers. Everyone is different, sexual orientation and gender identity are small aspects of the overall person, and are not the end all be all of why people act the way they do.

There is a reason why gays are gay, there is a reason why gothics are goth and a reason why people choose the religion they choose. In every circustance every one of us acts differently based on what we may or may not believe in. One of the reasons why the gay culture seems to act differently is because so many individuals choose not to accept gays so it makes them stand out more than a teenage boy wearing girls jeans.

We don't act differently than straight people. We work, eat, sleep, dance, talk just as normal people do. Some of us look different, but that's your problem.

In what way? If you have only limited exposure, such as Television or "rumors", you are only seeing a stereotype. Not every gay man is a screamin queen.
