What the.....? bed bugs?

You are alive right? this shouldn't happen to you when you are still alive and can take care of yourself.

The short answer is: No.

This is a very tricky situation, and your best bet is to call an exterminator. This is unfortunate, since bed bug treatments are very time-consuming and costly, but this is the only way to make sure you completely take care of the problem. Consider these facts:

-Bed bugs live in other places besides the bed--in baseboards, carpet, in books, even inside your tv if populous enough. So even if you take apart and thoroughly treat your bed and mattress, new bugs will simply emigrate from other areas.

-By simply spraying a room, you may eliminate a lot of the bugs, but it's very unlikely you'll get all of them--and you only need one gravid female to start the infestation all over again.

-When a hotel treats a bed bug infestation, they will generally remove the bed and mattress from the room, take it down to an "oven truck", and cook the heck out of it. Meanwhile, up in the room, they spray with a variety of chemicals--some knockdown (immediate kill) agents, some residual agents to prevent future infestations for a while (usually a year). They open up every drawer, the television, the clock radio, and pull up the carpet. They also treat the rooms above, below, and to each side of the target room, to prevent the bugs from simply crawling through the walls to safe harborage.

This should let you know how difficult they are to get rid of! Definitely call an exterminator, who will have the knowledge of a variety of techniques, both chemical and physical, to help you with the bugs. This is one problem where is it definitely worth the expense to have the job done right.

From what I know, bedbugs are the plague of all plagues... they can sit dormant for up to 9 months without feeding. They live on animal blood. They love pets, hate the light, and are attracted to body heat. So if you were to place a heat source in a "trap" of some kind, then you might be successful at drawing them out. My brother had a similar problem to yours. A new roommate brought them in... He bought poison from the store and sprayed everywhere over and over. I thought that was probably bad for his health, but he didn't care. He assured me that the exterminators do the same exact thing. I think it was 26 dollars for the gallon of poison. You need to look up information about Bed Bugs. They are very particular and the more knowledge you have the better your success will be. Maybe you should also consider being a good Sumerian and trying to help your GF's friend to rid their plague as well... That and make her strip at the door while you hold a blow torch to kill any that fall off of her. Lol.

First, you have to take the bed apart and find where they are nesting in order to kill them. They are large enough to see clearly. Once you have found where they nest then you can get rid of them. They hide during the day and at night when they can smell you or find your body heat only then will they come out to bite and feed. If you have a bed with a head board sometimes they will bore into the wood on the backside to nest, or between mattresses or in holes in the mattresses. If they are in any holes that are in the mattresses then you will have to through out the mattresses. That should give you places to start looking. Good Luck..

I don't think its a good thing to spray for bed bugs. Pyronate 2000 is sold at Walgreens and used in the laundry to kill the nits....maggots and the eggs.

Hoover the mattress once a week. If it is really bad, I suggest you get a new one.
