Because the rules are a knee jerk reaction in order to placate the Daily Mail reading types and don't address the real issues of why people now feel they can do whatever they want without considering other people. And then the rules make us all judge people unfairly because we feel we are in the right.

An example. On my way home from work (I cycle) is a right turn on a very busy main road. On the left hand side is a bus stop and speeding motoristsuse this widening in the road (where the right turn chevros are) to try to overtake the buses. Sitting in the middle of the road here on my bike is close to suicidal. So I try to look for a gap in the oncoming traffic and cross over to the other side just before the turn, hopping onto the pavement and 'freewheeling' (not at speed) to my turn. Now I know that cylcing on the pavement is illegal - but I quite value y life and this is the only point I do it. When challenged I have suggested that if the pedestrian hates it that much they contact the council about the dangerous juction and get something done about that as it is my life that is in danger and I'm not actually hurting them at all. I normally then get sworn at.

We've all just stopped thinking about each other and we're hiding behind government and law. We no longer say 'what can we do about it' we say 'someone should do something'. I'm not saying we should be vigallantes (sorry, not sure how to spell that) but if there are kids hanging round on the street how about getting a youth club or a basketball court or whatever they want set up in the area rather than issuing curfews and banning 'hoodies'?

because we have laws tying up decent people that have something to lose, ie job, house , car etc through fines or imprisonment so they abide by the law, but we also have lazy dossers that just sponge everything they have off the dole going out and commiting crime because they don't care if something they never worked or paid for is taken away from them. 9 times out of ten the courts know if they are scumbag re offenders with no life and nothing to lose they let them off with a holiday to the bahamas. send them to afghanistan give em a reality check.

because it is a big part of being human unfortunately. it's in our nature to rebel against what we are told we should be whether it be rebelling against our parents or our government. no one likes things forced down their throats and feel they should be able to choose instead of being dictated to. I wish the world was a more sociable place but seeing that it's run by us humans, animosity will always endure.

Think of the saying , 'The harder you tighten your grip, the more easily they will slip through your fingers'.
