As a supervisor at Shoppers Drug Mart, I am expected to be a cashier, stock person, cosmetitian and"gopher" to the store. At the same time being treated like a door mat by upper management, not to mention by bitchy customers. All, this for barely more than minimum wage. Are all Shoppers Drug Mart stores run the same way? FEEDBACK PLEASE?

Boy I didn't realize that there were so many bitter people out there judging from some of the answers I got. I just wanted to know if anyone else knew if Shoppers Drug Mart was run the same way at each store. The term "slavery" was intended as tongue-in-cheek.

When I was young I had a few jobs where I was in a very similar position. My advice to you is seek a better opportunity if possible. Long term I will tell you that living well is the best revenge so focus on advancing or moving to a company that will allow you to advance. If you do find another job, take on as much responsibility where you currently work as possible, perform as much work as possible, then quit so they may be inclined to treat whom ever serves to replace you with more respect. Good luck things will get better.

Take heart.
Hotel mangers during downturns are the jack of all traits, from bell boy to concierge. Even finance supervisors have the hardest time.
This is it. You have hit the curve towards the big time.
Once you weather the storm, you can look towards a promotion. It is common of many large industries that supervisors have the most operational floor stress.
When you do get to mangerial level, you will face stress of a different nature, though usually less physically taxing.
But if your position persists for over 2 to 4 years, looking for greener pastures would be in order. Bon chance !

Ask for a raise - and list all of your duties as the reason you feel you are eligible for one - tell them that you got a job offer from a similar store for $5 more an hour.. no need to deal with that - since you do have supervisor experience, you can get a better job with better wages elsewhere I would think -

Doesn't seem like you're enjoying your job. That position isn't exactly your cup of tea. If indeed you ARE a supervisor, you need to take the initiative and act like one. Take charge!! All in-store decisions should be made by you and should be final and conclusive. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Take advantage of your situation and use it to move up. Earn your f_ckin' stripes!!

All work in a sense is slavery. You must eat, clothe yourself, and maintain shelter. You are forced to devote yourself to making that damned thing called money. Now that all of americas work is being shipped overseas, employers have people knocking down doors for work. This drives down wages and gives employers the ability to demand more of their workers. thank you bill clinton(nafta) thank you george bush (big business)

Slaves weren't free to come and go! You are!! If you don't like the pay, nothing is holding back. Maybe if you go and pick cotton, will be better!!!!!!!!!!
