we married in the uk last year she is on a 2 year spouse visa and next year she will get permanent status, we want to have the baby in south africa but fly backhere afterwards. i am worried as to what paper work i need to reslove before hand. ie. baby registrtion in south africa, passport, coming back to the uk, does the baby need a visa, if so what type? how long will it take when can i apply cost etc...

You need to apply for a visa that gives 'indefinite leave to remain.'
The application forms can be obtained on line from the home office site but is not available in UK. So do it whilst you are still over there in SA.
My South African wife obtained this just over a year ago and it is quite expensive. In Feb 2005 we paid R3000 at the British High Commission in Pretoria.

Stay in South Africa and take a few more with you, there are enough people using and abusing this country as it is.
