The song title is "thank you" and the lyrics went like:
"...and even though the times were rough, you never turned away, you were right there and I thank you.."

Bettis Richardson sung it on American Idol and got kicked off.

Nobody else sung that song first. I just looked at the CD's insert, and "Thank You" is an original song written by Boyz II Men (Michael S. McCary, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman) and Dallas Austin.
