How long should the average penis be when erect and where is it measured from?

Man, are all these people so misinformed about what is really average or what? Since you are only interested in length and not circumference, I won’t include average circumference size. I also assume that you are talking about adult average size and not teen's.

To measure it, do it when the penis is in full erection, push it down until it is at a straight angle with the body. In other words, parallel with the ground. Measure along the top from the base until the tip. Some researchers suggest measuring along the side of the penis.

I've read a lot of different surveys about penis averages. Some say that the average is anything between 5-7 inches, some other surveys indicate an average of 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 inches. But those are not true averages, there can be only ONE average number. What they really are giving us, are average ranges.

Which means that if you use the 5-7 inches range and you have a 5 inch penis, 80-90% of the men have longer penis than you, and 10-20% of the men have shorter penis than you. If your penis is 7 inches, 20-30% of the men have longer penis than you, and 70-80% of the men have shorter penis than you.

There are four studies that made news when each came out, and these have a single digit average instead of a range.

The first one is the famous Kinsey Sex Institute study. In the 1960s they asked over 3500 college males to measure themselves.

Then there is the now famous Richard Edwards' Definitive Penis Size Survey Results with over 3000 participants.
average penis length: 6.3 inch (16 cm)
average penis girth: 5.1 inch (13 cm)

Another survey is the one done by Durex (just under 3000 participants):
average penis length: 6.4 inch (16.3 cm)
average penis girth: 5.2 inch (13.3 cm)

A more recent study was performed by Lifestyles Condom Co. in March 2001. They measured 300 college-aged students:
average penis length: 5.9 inch (15 cm)
average penis girth: 5 inch (12.7 cm)

the average penis size IN THE WORLD is 4-5 in. I dont think that race or where you live effects it, but im not sure. I do know that what you eat a drink do effect it. There is no such thing as a penis enlarger, by the way. But having lots of caffine stimulates penis growth and eating sugery foods messes it up 2. Be sure to measure from the top where your belly and penis meet, not the bottom. And chances are, when people say there penis is huge they're probyl covering it up because its small.

Average size of penis shud not be less than 5"
It depends on where u live.
Acc. to some survey 5.5" was average.
Above 5 its all normal.

Its measured from d base of d Penis pressing d scale at d pubic hair area. Length is as u can c on scale.
Thickness can be measured by an inchi tape.
U can measuse d thickness at d middle of d Penis shaft.
At d tip is Glans which is more Thicker....

Penises are of great variations and no need to think upon that.

Measure on top, not on the bottom. Usually, you use a ruler for the length and a tailor's tape for the circumference. I think the average lies between 5" and 6" in length (because the studies that quote over 6" usually use self-reported data or participation bias [like small guys refusing to participate]) and probably between 4" and 5" in circumference. Circumference is much more difficult to measure than length, however. I think you are supposed to measure it just touching the skin. Good night!

Edit: Also, you should note that some of the people answering here are lying about their size or else they measured wrong. I would be willing to bet money on it. It seems way too improbable for this many well-endowed men to be here, unless they feel compelled to brag more than other people.
