How come it is easier to start a lasting conversation by complain then by complimenting someone?

I've noticed ppl like to her ppl complain and they feed into it. Why do ppl like negitive conflict and to hear each other complain, rather than talk about somethin pleasent? Please dont say i am talking to the wrong ppl... I talk alot and to everyone... :)
