It's not official yet, but reports say it's goin gto be Nicklas Lidstrom. Henrik Zetterberg may be future captain material, but he's too young compared to the other Detroit players in the dressing room.

The media has been saying for months that Lidstrom has been named captain but the Red Wings organization has stated that the new captain will not be announced until the first home game of the season. I'm putting my money on Lidstrom.

Niklas Lidstrom will take it with out a doubt in my opinion, like the Stars who gave Modano the C. It could have been any number of players once you took our captain , but they chose the player that in there eyes had the best leadership. But who knows they could give it to a young player and try for another career long captain. Although I highly doubt it. I still think it'll be Lidstrom.

Lidstrom, definitely Lidstrom.
Doubt there'll ever be another career long captain like Stevie Y again, not in this market--I bet most players will play for a minmum of 3 teams over the span of their career.

Lidstrom definitely. He has been an assistant captain forever and is probably on of the top 3 defenseman in the league.
