Probably because they do not have the drive that you have to accomplish goals. And they will probably be jealous when you do accomplish various things. That's just human nature for some people. Ignore them and seek more positive people to be friends with.

Take into consideration what people say. If a lot of people say the same thing, then figure out why that is. Maybe what they're saying isn't true, but something you do triggers them to put you down. For instance, maybe you are living a lifestyle that is very different from other people's... that's not necessarily a good or bad thing, but people will make judgements based upon that.

Well you are somewhat right. You seem to be
around people who are negative and maybe even somewhat jealous of you so they tell you
things to make you discouraged.Don't feel
bad my two sisters do it to me a lot.But I do know other people who are positive and have the theory that "you can do it if you try hard enough."Just remember anything is possible.

I'm often negative because I see things from my own point of view. I live with chronic pain and there are many things that I can't do. Your question has made me think about how I respond when people tell me what they want for themselves. Thank you!

True friends will support you in whatever you want to do. They will also care enough to offer advice.
Be sure you understand the difference between advice and criticism.

I am sorry you are hanging with such negativity! It is more their issue, not yours, but, you need to find more positive people to be with....try a club or church group or even volunteer somewhere...thats always positive and it feels GREAT!!! Good luck and don't be afraid to tell them 'stop sharing your negativity!!'
