I have had a couple of people come to me and ask if its true that I am going out with this guy, the issue is totaly false and the guy and i are only acquaintances, we bump into each other occassionally at the grocery store or at a function and just say Hi.
He is the one going around claiming that he is my boyfriend (it is realy shocking...even worse...the person asking that being my boyfriend) to make it worse this guy is or was married.
I have been thinking of confronting him.
What would be the best thing to do?

Confront him for sure. Before you know it you'll have 3 kids, a spacewagon and a house in Berkshire with him!

He sounds inexperienced with dating and relationships so go easy on him. It sounds like he does want to be more than just acquaintances and truly believes that you are although still in early stages. I doubt that he is intentionally being malicious. Just have a talk and set the record straight.
I don't know. After reading your question again, i could be wrong. Are you sure you have never spent any time together?

Definitely confront him. Next time you meet, tell him that it makes you feel uncomfortable to have to answer to everyone, and perhaps ask him why is he doing this? Probably he will deny everything since he is a coward to go telling people behind your back that you are dating, but there is a slight chance of a misunderstanding. Only by talking to him will your mind clear up.

1. Tell him off seriously.
2. Get some guy friend to pretend to be your 'real' boyfriend' until the rumors dispel.
3. Date him, then dump him by doing something horrible.
4. Ask him to a family function, those stuffy ones with all your relatives and 'break up' with him if he doesn't want to.

Good luck babe.

Well, u can start by telling everyone he is not ur bf, n when u got chance to meet him, tell him straight u heard all the rumours n tat u r not interested to be his gf...

--> just some opinions for u to be aware of:

Be careful of wrong signals... some ppl r sensitive n assume u like them because of ur body language (touch, standing too close etc) n ur words (sweet talks, compliment bout his necktie, smell etc)...

Take care

Confront him & embarrass him. Thats the only way to deal with a nutter like this....that's always assuming he is not a psycho freak or something.

WTF is wrong with all these answers from people! If it were them and they were on the other side of the coin? obviuosly you know this guy and you dont feel threatened by him, he is obviuosly obsessed with you, break it to him the best you know how to, sure it is wrong he is saying he is your b/f , but hurting him by doing what these other people are telling you to do over something like that is wrong. help him to realize that you like him as a friend and nothing more. why is our world so fast to hurt everyone for pleasure...

Kick him in the nads. If he still claims that you are, maybe give him a chance. But seriosly, just kick him in the nads and ask do you think your girlfriend would do that?
