I have wireless internet in my house. I'm linked to my office computer downstairs. Why do I keep losing my connection over and over again? It's becomming a real pain in the *** since I play a lot of online poker and I keep getting booted from hands.

There may be several issues causing the problem.

1. Interference. Are you using a 2.4 GHz portable phone? If so it may be conflicting since that is the same frequency your Wireless router uses.
Are there other wireless networks in range? They may also conflict. Try changing the channel your router broadcasts on to 2.41 or 2.49. That may fix your problem.

2. Out of range. Check to see how strong a signal you get. If you are getting a weak signal then it will fluctuate and lose the signal now and then.

3. Crappy router. Do you have a D-Link Router? If so, you may want to throw it out the window and buy a Linksys. Seriously D-Links are notorious for random reboots and dropping signals.

4. Crappy wireless card. Again, if you have a D-Link it would best serve as filler for a trash bag.

Your wireless router may be crapping out. My roommate bought a poor router and I've had problems with poker too.

But it might just be the site having problems with your connection. Email support, or if you signed up through an affiliate get on them to bother the poker site to fix it.

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. CCleaner also fixes your registry. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware.

Have someone replace your router with a router that uses MIMO and you will probably stop losing your connection. Wireless Internet or "Wi-FI" is nothing short of awsome. I am in the business and use it daily. I would hate to have to go back to wired.

maybe you have
a) bad wireless connector
b) bad tuning on computer
c) they are too far away

i advise you make the connectors face each other, also make sure nothing is between them as much as possible. e.g doors, walls etc.
you might want to consider purchasing a connector that boosts the connection. you attatch this onto the wall, probably on the stairs, and this will make the connection stronger.
otherwise you could contact your internet service provider...
hope this helped

Its probally the router. If it a linksys you can fix it so it actually stays up instead of a dead signal. When ever the ISP resets the IP it will often rape your router but there is a way to set it up so it wont. How? no clue.

You must not have it set up right, or you need to switch to a different ISP. I use wireless internet in my house, and it works great!
