First woman was Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova in Vostok 6 in 1963
Major-General Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova (Russian: Валенти́на Влади́мировна Терешко́ва; born March 6, 1937), is a retired Soviet cosmonaut and was the first woman to fly in space, aboard Vostok 6 on the 16th of June 1963.
She orbited the earth 48 times and spent almost three days in space, which was more than the combined flights times of all American astronauts at the time.

The first Sputnik was sent into lunar orbit by Russia carrying a dog named "Leica". The first man went into lunar orbit is Mr Yuri Gagarin, a Russian Cosmonaut.
The first man to land on the Moon is supposed to be Mr Neil Amstrong. However, various scientists on National Geographic channel have contested the credibility of this.

Cecil Cootes, on March 12th, 1953. He was abducted and taken to the far side of the moon where he was studied. He was not aware of what was going on. He still lives in Buttbunch Corners, TN, but at 94 he can't remember yesterday, let alone 53 years ago.
