I want to take my running boards off they are cracking cause someone hit them or stomped it or something, but I want to take them off and im not sure what im getting myself into... is it gonna be messy, will there be rust... like what am i looking at and if you know any sites that will help, i would realy appreciate it.... thanks

If they are aftermarket (and they usually are) they just attach with screws under the car. These may be rusted, in which casae you might need to drill or chisel the heads off. Since you aren't putting them back on you don't have to worry about destroying the fasteners. for more help you can check my site: http://econofix.com

The running boards are bolted to support arms that are either bolted to the frame or welded to the frame. yes, being a 1997 there will probably be rust coming off from underneath the blazer when you remove them, but if there is no rust on the rocker panels, (under the doors) then the body will be ok. You should be able to unbolt them yourself, unless their welded then you'll have to have an auto repair shop cut them off with a torch or cut off wheel. good luck

they just bolt on but there might rust if there is rust on the truck there will be rust under the running boards

five bolts on each side is all simple task. but as far as rust and all. im sure youre going to run into some.
