Somebody please help me. My 15 year old daughter wants a sewing machine. I can't even put a button on. What kind of machine is good for a beginer? How much do they cost? Where can I get one? How does she learn how to use it? Please help.

You might try target.com or check at a local target store - SewPro Quickstitch Sewing machine - SP - 402 for around $50.00. or you might try a Blue Hello Kitty Sewing Machine for around $60.00.

She can get one to Wal-Mart, Target. They have several and a couple of even under $100.00. The best place if u have one in your area is a sewing Place like Singer Sewing or an Embroidery place. Usually the people their can give u a good deal on a beginner sewing machines and give lesson with no charge. If u do not have one, ask the High School Home Ec. Dept. They are familiar with the sewing places because someone has to service the machines. If your daughter school doe snot teach it check around to some of the other high schools.

Wal-mart or Target would get my vote too. BUT, I would stick with at Singer if you can. Very basic. Zig-Zag and Buttonhole is all you really need to look for in a "first" machine. The one I'm using now is from Wal-mart. Bought about 8 years ago and it's still going strong. I stay away from the digital ones that do every thing but "cook":-) Some fabric stores offer beginner classes. There are some wonderful "very easy" patterns out there today...

go to walmart. they have some really good machines for a beginner. i would buy an eletricronic one. they cost about two hundred dollars. my mom but me one when i was 13 and i have been sewing ever sice. i even worked as a seamstress for 12 years and the pay was really great. that is why i said to but an electronic one. you never know where it might lead her. maybe she will become a designer one day. it all starts with sewing on a button.

I am not a very proficient sewer so I bought a Brother sewing machine at WalMart for under $100.00. It works great and the instruction book is easy to use.
