Need to draw the line somewhere I suppose. First off, I'm speaking of tolerance for what people do (doing versus being). I find no reason to believe that a person or group should be disliked for what they are - the exception of course being when the term for what they 'are' involves something bad they do (e.g., 'murderer').

Given that: What sorts of actions should not be tolerated. Please define in more general terms if possible.

draw the line when it affects another person directly; so you should be able to do what you want as long as it doesn't stop someone else from doing what they want. so you should be allowed to drive a car as long as you aren't crashing into other people and stopping them from driving.

it's a matter of free will. it's all good as long os you don't violate anyone else's free will.

Karl Popper said you should never tolerate the intolerant of they will destroy the tolerant and all the concepts of tolerance with them. Religious tolerance goes way back to John Locke in the united states. He was trying to separate church from state before he even knew what he was doing really, but it was in response to the extreme intolerance of the puritans for any other society. Amusingly enough he did not extend any tolerance to athiests -- you need a church before you can separate it from the state.

not killing, stealing, lying, etc are guidelines from judaic law and were tranfered to the governments of europe, the americas, and muslim countries in asia.

Love how the chick says, "Anything that is termed an abomination in the Bible should not be tolerated"

Who says everyone believes in the bible? You are no better than those islamic fundamentalists.

I believe we should tolerate the freedom of people to do as they choose so long as they don't infringe on someone elses rights. Practice your religion, but don't tell me what to do/believe. Don't kill, steal, extort, etc...

Anything that is termed an abomination in the Bible should not be tolerated, but people should be given second chances, because everyone is capable of repenting.

Christians are taught to love the sinner but hate the sin, as in homosexuality. At least in good churches, not the ones portrayed in the media and bashed on these forums.

Eventually, though, some people's hearts get hardened like the Pharoah in Exodus. That takes a lot.

There is only one answer I'm comfortable w/ giving. Anyone who intentionally causes either emotional or physical harm to a fellow being who is not WILLINGLY accepting the harm should not be tolerated. Meaning, if you agree to be hurt, then the person hurting you is not at fault. But if you don't want to be hurt or are incapable of stating your preference in the matter, and they hurt you anyway, a crime has been committed.

It depends on individual but there is a sign that tolerance is too much tolerance when just after the "tolerate" mark is you exploding and flaming at them.
